Russian Lathe Knife Turning tool

This very versatile turning tool is commonly referred to as a Russian Lathe Knife. I forge these from recycled coil spring, and a friend of mine hand turns the handle for them. Total length of the tool is approximately 14 inches long. The total length of the steel part from tip of knife to end of shank is about 16 inches long with 4 inches of that epoxied into the handle. The cutting edge is about 2.5 inches long. Hardened and tempered to a straw yellow color, I sharpen these to a hair shaving edge, and they come ready to use on your next lathe project.
